Denis, it's Franklin roosevelt and i believe this was from his second inaugural address but I could be mistaken. fdr certainly had his faults, but he was a great man and the right leader at the right time. a huge figure in world history.

Words to live by. I am optimistic that the Obamas will lead us in this direction. I agree with Denis. Most folks don't see the image titles. So a little explanation about Roosevelt is in order? Who said this? When and why?

this image was taken in DC at the Roosevelt memorial,
there where many of his quotes carved into stones like this one... he was the president during the great depression the only president to govern for 4 terms, died at the beginning of his 4rth term of polio.... no T.V. back then so they hid the fact that he was paraplegic, he of course spoke to the nation via radio, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_D._Roosevelt
