They are part of our disposable society. Throw DISPOSABLE RAZORS, CUPS, PEOPLE.

we see the same thing here in Oakland and san francisco. But i've not been able to bring myself to take any pictures. i feel my taking a picture is somewhat disrespectful of what small bit of human dignity such people may still have left.

You should not see it like that...
while a photo wont save this person's life i think posting an image about a similar scene creates some awareness to some. If this photo can motivate someone to stop and simply acknowledge the homeless person, i think its already giving and not taking.
and in the very likely event that this image gets ignore and unnoticed then there is really not much difference as we already do that.
