in the dominican republic rooster fights/matches are legal, i went to document at a local "gallera" which is where they all gather to bet and fight their best trained roosters. i saw 4 matches each of of which ended in seconds to a few minutes. the rooster on the right hand site lost the match in this case after getting blinded by multiples spurs stabs.
needless to say that a lot of money goes on bets for each fights even when translated into dollars. also, quite interesting to point out that most people on this image are the among the wealthiest of the town.
