Back in NYC but sharing more dr photos.
In my town the "sindico" = (major of the town) hirers older men and women/people who didn't have a chance to get an proper academic education... - in most cases not even finish primary or high school - to clean the streets around the town. They all do it in an ongoing basis and walk from street to street keeping the town neat.
before you think this is an abusive and humiliating concept, keep in mind that first, my town is very small... not sure about it's population but its quite small, so small everyone knows everyone. Also think that this is not so bad for the people who take these jobs because they mostly otherwise wont get hired with a constant job elsewhere. so having a job like this, as humble as it sounds gives them a steady income and having something like that is valuable everywhere but specially down there for many reasons.

This is a good character study. Nice job on the difficult light conditions too.

lovely portrait, and nice job on shadow details. about your narration -- i would never think having older folks work to keep streets is abusive and humiliating. Keeping streets clean is important work. we should hire more displaced workers in the U.s. to do the same. what becomes humiliating and abusive is to require anyone to do important work such as clean streets, care for children, the elderly or the sick, and other non-glamorous jobs, but not pay a liveable wage, provide decent health care, or rights of union representation or protection against unjustified discipline and termination.
