Nice contrast between warm colors (foreground) and cold colors (background). This kind of compositions reminds me of the renaissance use of perspective. Well balanced with all the perspective lines pointing the empire state which is sitting in the middle of the composition but far behind everything. sweet!

I am going to guess 33rd street and ninth avenue looking east. That is the old post office on the right.
Oh, And, I never tire of images of the empire state building. There is a reason it is a classic.

wow, thats very impressive coming from a new new yorker (former chichago man) ha. ;)
yes, it is definitely 9th, i was coming from B&H. And yes if you are on 9th you got to be looking east to see the building.... is that a post office? wrong, thats my house due.. joooke yeah, btw is my favorite post office in the city cause if the writing in front when you look from 8th. that reads something like:"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

I was about to say, just before starting to read the info, that it is a nice location and people hardly take photos of ESB from there. I remember this area DAMN good, as I dropped, I mean it jumped off of my backpack, my camera. I broke the best filter, which can be bought only from Canada (Rodenstock, though made in Germaby) and the battery door, so I was guided by this really cool post office worker Vito to B&H photo, which is just on left, but they didn't have the back door and they guided me to a camera service around the corner on, I guess 34th street, so they fixed it - $27.50.
I finally had a story and a very familiar corner in NYC.
