another one of those... ;) almost broke it this time didn't i? but hey, the flag is still in there so technically am save...
now here is the question. sometimes I take a nice pic of random people on the street, and sometimes i am with a friend and i have been suggested to show the photo to the subject almost like... "hey take a look, its you, i just took a photo of you" well, just writing this sounds like a bad idea, so i actually never done this other than perhaps once. anyways, the question is, have you shown a stranger the photo your take on the camera's screen right after you take them?

I wouldn't be brave enough just to go up to them and show them. but if they saw me take the shot and came and asked about it, then i would definitely show them and explain why i took it (telling them my website address). i don't believe in taking really 'sneaky' shots, ie making out you're not taking a photo; i prefer to be open about the fact as i think it's more honest and they can challenge me if they want (btw I'm not saying you're shots are sneaky, just making a general point).
Another great shot, by the way

exceptional capture. that gesture, the lighting, the blur...communicates the essence of another day in the big apple. How i remember them.
regarding whether we should get permission or surreptitiously photograph folks...i take it case by case. i am often sensitive to folks' immigration status and their legitimate fears of not having their image posted. we've had quite a few INS/migra raids...so, i'll usually ask if i can post...

I really like these stationary subjects in front of a moving background. Since I basically don't take people shots, I don't have an answer to your question.

Dude I do it all the time........ but I am mad....... if you have made a great picture you want to share it with them..... but its crazy cos you end up wasting a ton of time talking .....not shooting....... and you then need to remember to email it to them....... the upside is you have their details should you ever want to model release it etc......er..not that I ever do that really....... but in principle.....ha...... great image her gesture mqakes it more pogniant...... nice one bro... cheers jez XX
